For all the footballers out there, there's some awesome news! Very soon, Mizoram in Northeast India will have its own FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) certified football ground. The news was shared by the state’s Minister for Sports and Tourism, Robert Romawia Royte. Read less
He informed that the football ground is being constructed at Kolasib town near the Assam border, where he paid a visit to inspect the construction work. The construction work is being carried out by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) sports academy at Kolasib’s Saidan. The artificial turf that is being laid at the ground is certified by FIFA and is about to complete now.
“Mizoram will soon have its first FIFA certified football field,” he said.
The minister also said that besides football, there will be three more disciplines under construction at SAI sports academy at Saidan at Kolasib district. The government hopes that with the construction of this football ground will encourage the sportspersons in the state .
He also visited Kawnpui and Vairengte to inspect the feasibility of new infrastructure for sports and upgrade the existing facilities. The government has ordered an upgrade for the existing football ground at Kawnpui by laying artificial turf. After this, basketball and volleyball courts at Kawnpui will be built here.
The minister said that the government is also planning to set up a sports training centre at Vairengte on the Mizoram-Assam border.
