A three-day Shekhawati Festival has taken off in Rajasthan that will take you through the rich cultural heritage of the state. Organised by the Rajasthan Tourism Department in Lakshmangarh, it will be a great eye-opener for those who would like to explore the state, and its heritage.
The Shekhawati region of Rajasthan is a historical region with the districts of Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Jaipur, and Churu. The most striking feature of this region is the beautiful grand havelis. They are finely decorated with painted murals. The buildings in this region are said to have been constructed sometime between the 18th century, and the early 20th century.
The three-day Shekhawati festival will see well-known folk artists such as Bhungar Khan, and Sarwar Khan, from the Manganiyar community.
