If you ever visit the Kalighat Temple in Kolkata, you might want to visit an obscure temple situated close to it. The Japanese Buddhist Temple called Nipponzan Myohoji is located about 12 mins away from the famous Kalighat Temple, and is a place of peace and tranquility.
At the Nipponzan Myohoji, you can spend some quiet time. It is a two-storey building with a prayer hall that is open for visitors. Here in the prayer hall sits a statue of Lord Buddha on the altar. Here on the second floor of Nipponzan Myohoji, there is a meditation room, and also the Arya Dharma Library. Folks who know the Japanese language will find a lot of literature here in the library.
Interestingly, the temple had featured in the Sushant Singh Rajput starrer detective thriller movie, Detective Byomkesh Bakshi.
