This ancient Mediterranean trading town was built around its market that has survived well for its years, still trading in the animals, tobacco, grain and flour, citrus fruits, soap, textiles and other crafts. The beautiful historic parts of the city take advantage of the fact that this port has always been known for its tile production—inlaid with patterns in silver wire—the fruits of which still decorate the walls and pillars today.
