There is no shortage of markets in and around Calgary, with some of them being open all year around and others just open in the summer. It seems that no matter where you are staying in the city, there is a market for you. In the summertime head to Stephen Avenue on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from April to September and you will find over 40 vendors take over this pedestrian-only-street and turn it into a market. Think speciality popcorn, pies, beef jerky and more. The Hillhurst Sunnyside Farmers’ Market is not your typical market on the other hand, offering much more than food to buy. Here you will find bouncy castles, face painting, and specialty food items. This market runs Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings. The Bridgeland Riverside Farmers’ Market runs Thursdays and is set up outside the local community hall, next to the kid’s playground, which means a lot of families love to shop here. Find homemade jam, freshly baked goods, and lots of produce to buy. Other awesome markets in the city to check out include Parkdale Farmer’s Market, Market on MacLeod, and the Crossroads Market.
