A testament to the local architecture of Bangalore, Sohum Spa at the Mövenpick Hotel has a beautiful exterior blending contemporary architecture with an Indian aesthetic. Within, eight treatment rooms decked in stone, timber and copper exude a distinct theme—a different mythological animal print sets the tone for each. Although treatments range from ayurveda to Indian, Oriental and European therapies, the spa emphasises on ayurveda, including both Abhyanga (a traditional Indian massage employing warm herbal infused oils for better circulation, hydration, and energy balance) and Shirodharais (a meditative process where warm medicated herbal oil is poured onto the forehead to revitalise the mind). Don’t miss the ceiling mural which signifies the union of spirit, soul, personality and body—the tenets of the spa.
