Skydiving is not an activity for everyone, but if you can get over the initial fear of being thousands of feet in the air and jumping out of an aircraft, the rest is simple. Skydive Auckland not only offers skydiving excursions, but also lessons for first-timers and beginners. The company is an expert in what is known as tandem skydiving, which means the student skydiver is attached by a safety harness to an experienced skydiving instructor throughout the entire jump. Instructors guide the student through the processes of freefalling, piloting the parachute and landing. Minimal instruction is given to all students prior to the actual jump. Skydivers will jump from heights of 13,000 to 16,000 ft and freefall at about 125 miles per hour, all the while getting exceptional views of the Auckland region.
