With no apparent connection with the name, this place is a hot spot for college students. More so with the presence of a famous women’s college, the young generation makes it a point to hang out in the vicinity every evening. However, Shahid Nagar is much more than a lover’s muse. It is the place where national brands like Pantaloons, Central, Kalyan Jewellers and Westside (nearby Satyanagar) decided to open their first outlet of the state. Big brands like Levis, Moustache, Pepe Jeans, Allen Solly, Spykar and Zodiac have exclusive outlets here. Other notable merchants in this area are Panda Lifestyle (shoes, bags, suitcases, accessories) and Khimji Jewellers (one of the biggest shops in the city). Shahid Nagar is also an apt place for all digital needs. It is a hub for laptop showrooms, mobile outlets and camera shops. Even most of the repair shops for computers and mobiles are present here. The place also carries a seasonal flavour to it. On Rupali Square, a temporary outlet opens every year—you will get Linga Lassi. It’s arguably the best lassi in Odisha and is extremely popular among the denizens of the capital. It opens from February till monsoon sets in mid-June.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
