The century old Neo-Renaissance structure that houses the Museum of West Bohemia is shockingly beautiful and is itself is a gem in the rough, which despite holding one of the most interestingly eclectic collections in the Czech Republic seems to host few foreigners, with spotty English labelling. But don’t let that deter you from touring the three distinct exhibitions on offer here, most notably the armoury, which features cannons, blunderbusses, and other firearms dating back to medieval times, as well as poles and suits of armour. There are other sections too. One looks at the prehistoric Central Europe, and the other a small collection of porcelains, as well as a section on the history of Pilsen as a city. After you run through the objects in hand, you can also visit one of the other museums under management―the Museum of Religious Art, the Puppet Museum, or the Ethnographic Museum, which is essentially a preserved turn-of-the-century well-to-do house near Republic Square, which gives you some idea of what life used to be like for Czechs in the past. Together, they constitute one of the largest collections in the Czech Republic. Keep in mind that these museums, though under the Museum of West Bohemia, are in different locations.
