Built on the lines of London’s Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, Kolkata’s Mother’s Wax Museum opened its door to the public in November 2014. The first wax museum to be inaugurated in India, the Mother’s Wax Museum is definitely worth visiting. As of now, the museum houses 19 life-size statues of famous personalities from various backgrounds like films, science, sports and music. While the replica of Shah Rukh Khan looks on, the statue of Mamta Banerjee (West Bengal’s Chief Minister) seems to be smiling at him. Mithun Chakravarty’s statue is seen in his ‘disco dancer’ avatar while Sourav Ganguly and Kapil Dev’s statues seem to be posing perfectly at the cricket field.
