To revolutionise your travel expedition and bring down the boarding hassles and worries, the Malaysian Airport has integrated The Fast Airport Clearance Experience System (FACES). This would enable passengers to have exceptional travel experiences, from check-in to boarding flights through biometric verification.Officially launched by Air Asia at Johor Bahru Airport, the airline has become the first budget airline in Asia to use biometric facial recognition technology for check-ins. Through this, there is no need to show any documents at several checks on the Airport.
According to the Airline, there will be certain kiosks assigned for the registration with FACES and the process will take about 30 seconds. Herein you have to simply put your MyKad or chip-enabled passport in the biometric reader, and your face will be scanned and matched with the details of your passport.

This one time process will not be required to do again, as registered travellers will be identified as they reach the auto boarding gate and can skip all the security reviews. There are certain limitations regarding registering on the FACES, as only adult passengers above 18 years of age can register on FACES due to fixed camera positions, also travellers within 145 and 190 cm of height will be able to use it accurately.
At the launch event, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said that the Immigration Department is monitoring the implementation of the system at the Senai International Airport, and believes that FACES will inspire other airports too, while evolving the travelling experience.
