With the onset of winter season, it is yet again that time of the year when travelling across India becomes one of the best things to do. Since trains are the most popular modes of transportation for Indian travellers, Indian Railways has planned to use GPS-enabled fog safety devices in order to ensure timely running of trains during the season.
Out of these 2,400 devices, 900 GPS devices have been distributed in the Delhi zone, which turns out to be one of the biggest victims of the deadly fog every year.

Also being planned as an added safety feature, all the auto signalling features will be converted into semi automatic, and also certain speed restrictions will be imposed during heavy fog situations.
Indian Railways is also planning to distribute a larger number of walkie-talkie sets to its crew members and station staff. Apart from this, the loco pilots will also be provided with signal indication booklets and counselling on how to work during fog.
As travellers, we are all looking forward for the winter season, which is expected to be favourable and easy this time for train travel.
