Lake Štrbské Pleso is a star-shaped lake situated in the higher Tatra Mountains. Being the second highest fresh water lake in Tatras this lake remains frozen for more than half of the year. Depending upon whether you like to see it in solid state or liquid state you should choose the time of the year to visit it. I visited it during summers and took a late evening and an early morning walk around this lake. You can judge the popularity of this lake by the presence of two high-end hotels on its banks. There is a well-defined walking path that goes around the lake. I visited it during summers and took a late evening and an early morning walk around this lake. You can judge the popularity of this lake by the presence of two high-end hotels on its banks. There is a well-defined walking path that goes around the lake. Simple exercise equipments, all made in wood, have been placed at many places along the lake for those who may want to exercise in the middle of nature. Due to its irregular shape the scenery keeps changing as you walk along the lake. The green trees and blue sky reflect in the clear waters of Štrbské Pleso Lake making it a perfect place to play with your camera. Mountain peaks and tall trees create a perfect mirror image and bright boats on the banks provide a touch of vibrancy in an environment that is essentially blue and green. A restaurant by the lake with lot of driftwood displays serves the authentic Slovak food. A huge sports complex located nearby brings in many sports enthusiasts to this region.
