Looking for something a bit more exciting than a neighbourhood bar or a dim speak-easy? Then it’s time to try Smuggler’s Cove, surely the most incredible tiki bar you have ever set foot in. Smuggler’s Cove is one of the most famous tiki bars in the world, regularly appearing in television shows, newspapers, and glossy magazines. It has been named in the world’s top 50 bars for 6 years running.Bar owner Martin Cate says he wanted to open a bar that paid homage to the great tiki bars of the past while also celebrating the diversity of the spirits, and with Smuggler’s Cove he has done exactly that. There are 77 cocktails on the menu, showcasing 350 years of rum history.
When you walk into a tiki bar, you are leaving the regular world behind, and stepping into a fantasy world in the south-pacific. Rum barrels, coconuts, pacific music, and lavish tropical cocktails is what it is all about. Smuggler’s Cove is set across three different levels, and there’s even a waterfall. The attention to detail has led to a theatrical space that feels like a movie set.
Drink to try: Take some friends and order a scorpion bowl. Be prepared for long novelty straws, a ceramic skull and fire!
