Veggie SF was established by former residents of San Francisco—Paul and Bess Choi—to fill a gaping void in the vegetarian dining scene in Hong Kong. Today, this 1950s-style American diner is a favourite with vegetarians, vegans and meat-eaters alike. Although the menu offers an eclectic mix of dishes ranging from American and Italian to Cantonese and Japanese and even some delicious eggless desserts, their burgers are the major crowd-puller. Order the I am Fabulous burger—choose between the beetroot pâté, grilled Portobello and sweet pineapple, or crispy black pepper soy patty—which is served with a side of potato and pumpkin wedges and creamy slaw. The restaurant itself is warm and inviting—decorated like a typical American diner from the 50s, with vintage collectibles, American memorabilia, household antiques, mismatched seating and even an American flag—and the service (regardless of your ethnicity) will make you feel right at home. End with a slice of their truffle chocolate cake.
