Earthen Oven, on the top floor of the Fortune Hotel Landmark with a view of Ashram Road lit up after dark, is an iconic place for North Indian non-veg foods, especially kebabs. Their specialities include the Shikhampuri or Sikandri Raan, their enormous Tandoori platters (veg or non-veg), Kasturi Murgh Tikka, Keema Earthen Oven and their Nalli Gosht with the meat easily coming off the bone with a fork. They have recently introduced Nassa Nalli Ki as a starter. For vegetarians, the Nadru Seekh Kebab (Tandoori Lotus Stem), Aloo Firdushi (minty potatoes) and Sweet Basil Paneer Tikka are good starters. They also do some unusual kebabs like Lemon Grass Murgh Tikka and Murgh Tikka Chaat.
For the mains, their vegetarian choices include a variety of dishes with paneer, soyabean, corn, chana, khoya or mushroom, but the must-have is their Earthen Oven Dal which is their take on the Dal Bukhara. Non-vegetarians should try the Rajasthani Maas ke Sule, Khara Seena (Chicken Breast Tandoori), Daura-e Tafreeh (Cardamom Prawns marinated in lemon juice), Afghani Jhinga (ajwain-and-dry-fruit-flavoured prawns) and the Awadhi Galouti Kebab with Warqi Paratha. Their Prawn or Mutton Biryanis are fairly good too. Leave room for their rich sweets — Stuffed Kala Jamun, Lacchedar Rabadi, Pista Kulfi Faluda, Kesar Phirni or Rasmalai... all pretty good.
