Rosticceria San Bartolomeo, also known as Rosticceria Gislon, is a great, no frills local canteen not far from the Rialto Bridge. It is a good value fast food canteen style section which is popular with locals looking for a quick lunch, so bear in mind that it can get a bit crowded at lunch time. There is also a more expensive sit-down dining room upstairs. The menu offers typical Venetian dishes including a good range of pastas, salads, soups, freshly grilled fish, and seafood. The food on offer changes regularly, so everything is always really fresh. The squid ink spaghetti is a favourite, and something you must try while in Venice.
Rosticceria San Bartolomeo is self-service, so you choose what you want and order at the counter, and then you can eat in the canteen downstairs, eat standing, or take it away. The place is great for a quick, fresh and affordable meal with the locals. They also offer a discount if you take away.
