The cute and quirky Coffee Villa has two branches in Chiang Mai, one south of the city in a barn-like house on Hang Dong Road and the other, more conveniently located, on Nimmanhaemin Soi 6. The decor here is bright and funny with a sunglass-wearing reindeer as the coffee shop’s unlikely mascot. It works though, for some reason, and the Nimmanhaemin location in particular has quite a cool and fresh vibe. Iced drinks here tend to be larger than other places and reasonably priced but if you’re looking for high quality cups off rich coffee, you’re probably better off elsewhere – here you’ll be sipping sweeter, Thai-style brews. The coffee shop also serves a numbers of teas, including the famous sweet Thai iced tea and iced match green tea as well as an assortment of snack and full meals. Some favorites include Western breakfasts, burgers and French fries, along with thick white toast served with plenty of mouthwatering toppings like honey, whipped cream and fresh fruit and several cakes. While there’s more space at the Hang Dong location, both are decent spots to sit down and stay a while and open at 7:00 am making it easy to get your first cup of the day.
