This charming cafe, tucked away on a small soi (street) near the impressive Wat Suan Dok temple off Suthep Road, features a light and airy ambience filled with homey Japanese-inspired decor. Open early until late, 7:00 am – 10:00 pm on weekdays (it closes a few hours earlier on the weekends), Hana Zono Cafe is a great place to grab a quiet, early morning cappuccino or hunker down to get some work done. Even when the coffee shop is busy, it tends to stay quiet with an almost library-like hush about it. The cafe's off-the-beaten-path location means you will probably need your own transportation to get there, but once you do you will be rewarded with relaxing with the locals, mainly students, instead of other tourists. Though the place is relatively small, there is still a surprising amount of seating to accommodate individuals, couples and groups. Try a hot latte or the iced matcha green tea along with one of the cafe's rotating cakes, sweet treats and snacks (they don’t offer much in the way of full dishes) such as honey waffles, banana crepes, thick and chewy chocolate brownies, delicate crepe cake (a Thai favorite), banoffee pie and more.
