A type of thukpa, thenthuk is yet another comfort food that is delicious and healthy. Thenthuk is made of wheat flour dough and is cooked into a soup along with meat and vegetables. Unlike thukpa, the dough thentuk is not modelled into noodles, but is flattened. It is added only when the vegetables and meat are nicely boiled. The literal translation of ‘thentuk’ in Tibetan is pulled noodle, in Tibetan, “then” means pull, and “thuk” means noodle. While it looks like a rather simple dish to cook, if you ask a Tibetan cook, you will know that it requires a lot of preparation to come to the end product. Again, this is another dish that is easily found around Leh. You can add momos into the thenthuk soup and enjoy this different yet amazing combination.
