The popular Le Gamin chain of French cafés has been operating in various locations since 1992. But brick-and-mortar restaurants are so passé! So, in 2008, owner Robert Arbor launched Le Gamin Mobi, a truck that re-creates his signature French street crepes—those portable, triangle-folded packets of meat, cheese, veggies and even Nutella—for a roving clientele. Besides crepes, Le Gamin Mobi serves salads, fries and lovely toasted sandwiches; a standout is the grilled merguez sausage on a crusty baguette with Swiss cheese and caramelised onions. During the week, the truck is often parked in Chelsea, though it does skip around to sell at special events.
