Of all the culinary cravings out there, the one for the moreish burrito can seldom be satiated by anything else (it especially ranks high on the list of hangover foods). Chomp into the very best version of this Mexican favourite at Luardos', a food van started by owner Simon Luard back in 2006, as the result of a flashbulb moment (he had 10 thousand pounds in the bank and didn’t know what to do with it). The burrito here is legendary—with soft home-made tortillas stuffed with chicken breast, pulled pork, chipotle, cheese, rice, black beans, crunchy coriander, hot sauce, salsa, sour cream and iceberg lettuce—and served with an optional side of chorizo and guacamole. They sell out of a stationary blue van at the Whitecross Street Market, and another that moves around the city (this one’s hot pink, and you’ll have to check in to keep track of its route). There’s usually a winding queue all the way up to the van door, so get in line—it's well worth the effort.
