Il Caffe Rosso is a little red fronted cafe that has been one of the most popular hangouts for students and artists since the late 1800s in Campo Santa Margherita, an atmospheric and popular local square with a buzzing bar and restaurant scene. When in Venice you must try a Spritz – the classic Venetian aperitif made from prosecco, sparkling water and Aperol, Campari, or Cynar are usually served with a delicious fresh olive. Il Caffe Rosso is a great place to try an inexpensive one sitting, outside with the locals on a sunny afternoon. The cafe also serves great coffee, excellent croissants, sandwiches, and other snacks, and is a nice place to chill out in the day time as well as in later in the night.
