These UNESCO World Heritage Sites not only hold immense cultural and historical significance but also provide some of the most picturesque settings for photography. Whether it’s the grandeur of monuments or the beauty of natural landscapes, each site offers unique opportunities to capture the essence of India’s rich heritage.
This World Photography Day, we bring you 10 such photogenic sites in India.
Hampi, Karnataka
The ancient city of Hampi is a photographer’s dream with its surreal landscape of massive boulders, crumbling ruins, and ancient temples. The Virupaksha Temple, Vittala Temple with its iconic stone chariot, and the Tungabhadra River provide stunning backdrops for capturing the essence of a lost empire.
Ajanta and Ellora Caves, Maharashtra
The rock-cut caves of Ajanta and Ellora are masterpieces of ancient Indian art and architecture. The vibrant frescoes of Ajanta and the detailed carvings of Ellora, particularly the monolithic Kailasa temple, offer endless photographic possibilities.
