Also referred to as the Kulik Bird Sanctuary owing to the Kulik river which flows alongside, this oasis of green is situated close to Raigunge in the Uttar Dinajpur district. The bird sanctuary here is home to over a 164 species of birds, and has an influx of about 70,000-80,000 migratory birds every year. Development of this area began as part of the social forestry programme of the Government of West Bengal back in 1970, after which it was bestowed with its official designated as the Raigunge Wildlife Sanctuary in 1985.
