Kaylana Lake is situated 8 km west of Jodhpur city in Rajasthan. An artificial lake funded by Pratap Singh in 1872, the lake covers an expansive area of 84 sq km.
Kalyana Lake is located amid igneous rock land formations. The water supply comes from Haathi Nahar which is further linked to the Indra Gandhi canal. The vegetation surrounding the lake comprises Babool trees (Acacia nilotica). In the winter, Siberian cranes visit the lake site to rest for some period.
Another factor that makes Kalyana Lake highly significant is the dependence of Jodhpur city and its inhabitants on it for water supply.
Boating facilities are also available for visitors at the lake site. It is good for a visit on a winter day.
