These attractions in Buenos Aires offer insights into the city’s beautiful architecture and the country’s complex political history. The most important sites are clustered around Plaza de Mayo, the city’s earliest central square which is packed with monuments such as Piramide de Mayo, and has been witness to Argentina’s most significant political events. Home to the presidential offices, the pink palace Casa Rosada is Argentina’s White House and houses a small museum containing political artefacts. The 19th-century Cathedral Metropolitana is also a city landmark, and contains the marble mausoleum of General Jose de San Martin. Read less
