The Parthenon

Travelling to Athens and not visiting the Parthenon is absolutely “Ludacris”! Why, you may ask? Because it is truly one of the most important buildings in the world, the world’s most advanced civilisation built it and it is one of the most perfect buildings on earth. The kicker is, no one knows how they built it, even after years and years of studying it. This temple was built to exude power and stature, as well as to provide a measure of safety for the citizens of Athens. What is most fascinating about it is the mathematical design behind it. We could go into detail about it, but it’s worth going there and taking a guided tour, or reading about it beforehand to really understand why the design is so clever. It also happens to be the most decorated of all the Greek temples, and once upon a time, it housed many sculptures which are now mainly kept in the British Museum.
