Suvarnabhumi—located 30 km from the city centre—handles most of Bangkok's international flights, so there's a decent selection of transport options available for getting you to and from the airport. A metered taxi to central Bangkok will set you back THB 350-450 and takes 45-90 minutes. Remember that in addition to the metered fare, passengers are responsible for paying a THB 50 airport surcharge plus expressway tolls of around THB 70.
