The stately and handsome Supreme Court building sits beside the Parliament Buildings and backs onto the Ottawa River. This is the country's highest court and the final court of appeal for those involved in criminal proceedings. The Supreme Court of Canada remains open for public between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, daily, including weekends and holidays during the summer months. Free guided tours are conducted throughout the day. The grandeur of the building, its historical importance, and beautiful art combine to make it an interesting tour. Across the street from the Supreme Court is the Garden of the Provinces and Territories, a charming green space that should not be missed. Fountains, public art and emblems of Canada's provinces and territories grace this hidden gem.
