While the department had issued a warning for March 11, it also issued an orange warning for March 12 and 13, and stated that the region will likely experience heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm and hailstorms.
The colour-coded warnings are issued by the Met Office to alert people ahead of hazardous and severe weather, which has the potential to cause danger to life, damage, or widespread disruption. In terms of warnings and colour codes, Orange code is issued for weather conditions that have the capacity to impact significantly, whereas Yellow code refers to the least dangerous of all the weather warnings, but indicates the possibility of severe weather.
However, it has been reported that on Tuesday, the weather remained dry and cold in the state on Tuesday, with Keylong, the tribal district Lahaul-Spiti’s administrative centre experiencing lowest temperature at minus 5.2 degree Celsius.
Further, Manali recorded as low as 1 degree Celsius, which is followed by Dalhousie at 5.2 degree Celsius, Kufri at 4.8 degree Celsius, while Kalpa settled at minus 0.5 degree Celsius.
