Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Mizoram and said that the destination has all the required potential to become a model tourist destination in the North East India. The destination is renowned for its natural beauty, high literacy rate, and having a large English speaking population also works in its favour.These things were said by Mr. Modi at Aizawl, Mizoram where he dedicated the Tuirial Hydro Electric Power Project to the country. He also said that if developed well and carefully, the state has a lot to offer to the nation in terms of adventure, cultural, rural, eco, and wildlife tourism. Mizoram has high potential to emerge as the biggest employer in the field of tourism in India.
In the wake of developing and promoting tourism in the state, the Union Government has approved two prime tourism projects costing INR 194 crore for Mizoram in past two years. These two projects aim at promoting eco-tourism and adventure tourism in the state. The Central government too has released INR 115 crore for carrying out of these projects successfully, informed Mr. Modi at the function.

Not only this, the Central Government has decided to give INR 5300 crore to North Eastern States under the scheme for next three years to bring about the required tourism development.
