Alwar Fort, also known as Bala Quila Fort is like a guardian to the city of Alwar, owning to its brilliant location in the foothills of the Aravalli Ranges. Bala Quila meaning young fort is a mammoth structure, situated around a kilometre away from the city centre. The fort was constructed on the orders of Hasan Khan Mewati somewhere in the 15th century. Besides being historically significant, the fort offers grand views of the city of Alwar. All six gates of the fort, namely Jai Pol, Suraj Pol, Laxman Pol, Chand Pol, Krishen Pol and Andheri Gate stand testimony to the valor of the Rajputs kings, for which they are so famous.
