Interestingly, Odense is dotted with statues and sculptures that are inspired by the characters of Anderson's tales. These are everywhere – in the parks, on the streets, above the plazas. With a map in your hand, stroll around. The Emperor's New Clothes is a sculpture dedicated to the story by the same name. The story Woman with the Eggs, which is about a woman who held her head so high that she dropped her eggs and saw all her dreams shatter, also has a sculpture dedicated to itself. Then there is also a granite statue of The Toad, one on The Shepherdess and the Chimney Sweep, The Darning Needle, and The Flying Trunk. The Wild Swans is another sculpture inspired by the fairy tale by the same name.
