A few days back, the West Bengal government, allowed the sweet shops in Kolkata to remain open for four hours daily after the apex body of sweetmeat outlets showed concern regarding milk wastage and jobless staff. Consequently, the shops were granted permits to remain open from 12 PM to 4 PM with only a few staff members, and only for packed items and take-away orders.
