Located north of Zagreb, Medvednica Mountain, also known as ‘Bear Mountain’, creates a permanent backdrop in Zagreb’s skyline. It is the city's most popular spot for outdoor activities. The terrain is popular for hiking and cycling throughout the year, whereas in winter the slopes offer great skiing opportunities closer to the capital. Excursion to Medvednica Mountain is a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the capital. You can either walk on the trails or go cycling. Take a trail to the medieval fortress of Medvedgrad and enjoy a leisure walk in the nature. There are few interesting cafes tucked inside mountain caves offering local specialities. Take a break from the city life for a day and head to the mountain to soak up the scenery. The highest peak of Sljeme at 1035 m offers a great vantage point to look over the capital on a clear day!
