An easy and unforgettable weekend getaway destination is to Loch Ness, located just a short trip away from Inverness. This loch is the most famous and largest in Scotland and is known for its ‘monster’ Nessie. The claimed monster has been talked about for centuries, dating back to the 7th century when rumours spread of a beast in the water. Visitors who are interested in learning more about Nessie can visit both the Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition Experience and Nessieland. If you want to do more than just learn about Nessie, make sure to stop by the Urquhart Castle where you can walk around the ruins discovering the cells and towers. A visitor’s centre is on-site which talks more about the castle’s role in the history of Scotland. If you are into water activities, Loch Ness offers sunset boat cruises, sailing opportunities and plenty of fish to be caught. Stay in the nearby areas of Inverness, Drumnadrochit or Fort Augustus.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
