Katra Shrine Board provides Angithis for Vaishno Devi pilgrims

Given the extreme winter prevalent in the mountains of Jammu, the Katra Shrine Board has provided angithis to provide some relief to the yatris who are braving the chill to have darshan of the Goddess. In addition, the Shrine Board has also made provisions for woollen blankets, warm water etc. to keep the yatris as comfortable as possible during the 12 km-long uphill trek.
Surprisingly, the footfall of pilgrims at Vaishno Devi temple continues to be steady notwithstanding the biting cold. Heavy snowfall accompanied by rain in North India has kept the mercury at really low levels.
Owing to bad weather conditions and landslides, passenger helicopter services were stalled for some time. However, the battery car and passenger cable car services continue to function as usual.

Vaishno Devi cave shrine remains abuzz with the arrival of devotees throughout the year. Recently, the old and natural cave was opened by the Shrine Board much to the delight of the yatris.

Located on Trikuta Mountain, Vaishno Devi shrine has to be reached via a long trek. After which, devotees have to take another difficult 1 km-long trek uphill to have darshan of the Bhairav shrine without which the yatra is considered incomplete.
