Those planning a trip to Srinagar often wonder how to reach Srinagar from various parts of the country. The splendid city is well connected with rest of the world via air, train and road. Srinagar Airport or Sheikh-ul-Alam Airport is about 15 km away from the city centre and flights are easily available from major cities. How to reach Srinagar by train is also a frequent question in the minds of people. Travellers can book their tickets till Jammu Tawi railway station which is the nearest railhead. The city of Srinagar is well linked to various nearby cities and towns by a number of state and private buses. Srinagar is connected to Jammu via Jammu National Highway 1-A and travelling from Jammu to Srinagar by bus is extremely comfy. One will also go through the famous Jawahar Tunnel connecting Jammu with Srinagar on the way. Several J&K State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC), luxury and private deluxe buses frequently run to and from the state.
By train:
The closest railhead serving the picturesque Srinagar is Jammu Tawi Railway Station, which is about 330 km away. New Delhi-Jammu Tawi Rajdhani Express, Jammu Mail and Jammu Tawi Express are some of the prime trains operating from Delhi. Private taxis, state and private buses are easily available from outside the railway station.
