For centuries, this mineral-rich lake has been an important part of the Syilx Okanagan People’s cultural history. The water and the minerals from this lake are known to have therapeutic properties.
The Spotted Lake is a big attraction mainly because of its unusual looks. During the summer season, most lakewater evaporates, leaving several small mineral-rich pools in its place. It looks like spots of water, hence the name. The colour of these pools differ due to the mineral composition of the soil and the water. It’s a spectacular sight to see.
