The suburb of Greenside is for serious foodies given how some of the finest affordable restaurants in Jo’burg are located here. With popular names like Rim & Rubber, POP, Spiceburg and The Artisan, locals flock to this neighbourhood to satiate their hunger pangs while travellers view it as an integral part of their culinary journey. Greenside, as is evident by its name, is one of the more lush areas of the city given its proximity to the Johannesburg Zoo Lake, the Emmarentia Dam and the Botanical Gardens. In fact, its green boulevards were named after eminent Scottish golfers considering how the Parkview Golf Club, which was also founded by a Scotsman, is right beside the district. There is also a Rugby Club in the form of ‘Pirates Sports’ if you are interested.
