Located on the banks of the Saryu River, the city of Ayodhya is famously known as the birthplace of the Hindu god Ram. As per Hindu mythology, the city was built by Dashratha, the father of Ram. A highly revered destination for Hindus, Ayodhya is barely 136 km from Lucknow and has been in the eye of storm over the last two decades for various religious and political reasons. Read less

A highly revered destination for Hindus, Ayodhya has been in the eye of storm over the last two decades for various religious and political reasons. Some of the prime places of interest include Hanuman Garhi, a massive four-sided fort; Nageshwarnath Temple, believed to be built by Kush, son of Ram; the Ramkatha Museum, and Dashrath Mahal. Ayodhya is also the birthplace of four Jain Tirthankars.
