Seal your love! Possibly inspired by the European tradition of putting a padlock and throwing the key into a River Seine below, this site on Penang Hill carries forward a pioneering tradition and that is of a busy French bridge in Paris, which has now discontinued for security and aesthetic reasons. Metal grilles on a walk way above the Cliff Cafe, better known as the Astaka Food and Beverage Center, hold thousands of padlocks. The walk way has a wooden bench for you to spend time contemplating what wish to make. What’s more, this Penang Hill landmark makes the experience dramatic with a large metal-and-concrete cut-out of the letters LOVE! Covered in astroturf greens against a pink background of the love locks and protected by a barrier, LOVE is the first thing you’d notice as you step on the promenade.
