With no official boundaries as such, but marked scrupulously by nature with azure skies and beaches, the Côte d'Azur or the French Riviera spans the Mediterranean coastline of the south-eastern corner of France. Sun-soaked turquoise beaches or the ski resorts of Isola, warm Mediterranean summers or the Christmas carnivals of Nice, luxury shopping in Cannes or frugal options at flea markets in Nice, there are many places to see and things to do in the French Riviera. The repertoire of the Côte d'Azur is comprehensive enough to enchant us all!As done by most, I recommend making Nice as the base with day trips to the fascinating vicinity, however, you may so decide based on your interests, budget and fondness of crowds or your aversion to them! Clear blue skies, coordinated exquisitely with similar waters down below, lying in the aptly named Côte d'Azur, Nice is a beautiful place worth visiting. The capital of the French Riviera exhibits a beautiful mélange of a cosmopolitan European city and the typical old world charm. With year-round sunshine, clear blue beaches, culinary delights and with places to explore, Nice will keep you engaged for a week or more!
If you ask me when to visit, then my heartfelt inclination is towards summers, from May to August, however, do consider the extreme throng of visitors during the Cannes Film Festival and the summer holidays in August. Winters offer lively Christmas markets, ski resorts, dreamy clouds in Saint Paul de Vence, as well as mild cold and showers, so take your pick!
