Established before the turn of the millennium, the Cigar Factory New Orleans and the museum inside are lovely places in the French Quarter. It is obviously a boutique factory and prides itself for its quality and craftsmanship. It has ten full time cigar rollers who between them roll over 500,000 cigars a year. But more interestingly, the factory’s cigar museum is known to have the only relics left behind from the 1800s when New Orleans had an enviable reputation as a cigar manufacturing town, getting its supplies of tobacco from the Caribbean and Cuba. Stepping in the factory is like stepping into a different place as the air hangs thick with tobacco aroma against a background of lively Latino music. At the end, you can buy cigars which are retailed only in the factory.
