Explore art, design, and the human experience
Noteworthy for: Book geeks will particularly revel in the library (admission by appointment only) with its incredible 60,000 rare books and periodicals, including many of those once censored.
The museum began in 1986 as a way to exhibit, document, and preserve Mitchell Wolfson Jr.'s collection of decorative and propaganda arts from the period 1885-1945. The collector donated his life's treasures - all 120,000 of them - to Florida International University in 1997, and today the museum continues his good work.
The gift shop has a thought-provoking selection of design-oriented gifts, homewares, office accessories and more. Also located on the first floor is the Wolfsonian Cafe, a great spot for a quiet, Wi-Fi connected lunch, catered as it is by gourmet Lyon & Lyon.
