The higher education institutes in the city delved into celebrations by taking out Tiranga Yatra carried on their campuses.

Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan participated in a Tiranga rally and other programmes under the Centre’s Har Ghar Tiranga campaign at different places in Sundargarh district on Saturday.

The Modi government has been celebrating the 75th year of independence as ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ since August 15 last year. The grand celebrations will culminate on Independence Day this year. The central government launched a programme called ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and exhorted the 20 crore households in the country to hoist the national flag in their homes from August 13 to August 15.

Various programmes are being organised by the Bhopal police to commemorate the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava'. A special 'Tiranga on Boats' rally was organised at Lower Lake led by Commissioner Makrand Deoskar and additional commissioner Sachin Atulkar on Wednesday afternoon.

The Leader of Opposition in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday said that the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) won't last even for the next six months in the state. His remarks came after the ruling party put up posters claiming that a "new and reformed TMC" come in the next six months.

Terming the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign as one of the biggest medium to spread awareness amongst people about 75th anniversary of Independence Day, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said that the call to hoist the tricolor on every household has turned into a 'Jan Andolan' (people's movement).

With the long weekend and Independence Day celebrations, the city was full of tourists, with long queues witnessed outside forts and palaces on Sunday. Almost half a kilometre long queues were seen outside Hawa Mahal, City with over 46,200 people visiting the Hawa Mahal on Sunday.

Ahead of Independence Day, Akshay Kumar flagged off a 10 km race for the police personnel in Mumbai along with Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis. The rally comprising 100 four-wheelers and 60 bikes was organised at Marive Drive to mark 75th year of India’s Independence. Reportedly, about 3500 police personnel participated in the race organised by the state government.

State BJP president K Annamalai criticized the DMK government for denying permission to BJP functionaries to conduct bike rallies with the national flag in Tamil Nadu. He accused the DMK of showing their dislike for the national flag and questioned the police's rationale behind the denial, suggesting the rallies aimed to promote the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' initiative for Independence Day.
