Bombay High Court quashed criminal proceedings against a woman's in-laws, stating passive observation or refusal to take sides isn't grounds for cruelty charges. Justice R. R. Bhonsale emphasized that vague allegations against relatives, without specific involvement, are insufficient for Section 498A IPC. The court stressed careful scrutiny of such cases, especially those filed soon after marriage.
