A Madras High Court judge refused to hear a case involving IPS officer A Arun, expressing anger over the prolonged wait faced by court staff to serve a summon. The judge insisted Arun be present until the case, concerning the detention of a real estate builder, is heard.

The Madras High Court has dismissed a plea seeking a ban on Suriya and Trisha Krishnan's film ‘Karuppu’. Judges acknowledged that corruption exists within the judiciary but emphasized the film presents a fictional narrative. They ruled that portraying corruption in a fictional courtroom does not constitute contempt, allowing the movie to continue its successful run.

A vacation bench comprising Justice G R Swaminathan and Justice V Lakshminarayanan had summoned Arun in connection with a habeas corpus petition filed by the wife of a builder detained under the Goondas Act, when Arun was Chennai city commissioner of police.

Madras High Court permitted a West Bengal woman to donate a kidney to her son, rejecting the Directorate of Medical Education and Research's demand for a DNA test. Justice GR Swaminathan noted that birth certificates and other documents established their biological relationship, ordering the authorization committee to grant permission without delay for the transplant.

The bench rejected a submission made by the state’s additional advocate-general, P V Balasubramaniam, that withdrawing paid VIP darshan would cause revenue loss to the temples.
