Dramatic moments ruled the second day of raid by enforcement directorate (ED) sleuths at the residence of Bineesh Kodiyeri, who is under arrest in Bengaluru in connection with a drug case.

The Karnataka high court on Thursday granted bail to Bineesh Kodiyeri, the son of former Kerala CPI (M) secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan in a money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

An eight-member Enforcement Directorate (ED) team on Wednesday carried out searches at the Thiruvananthapuram residence of Bineesh Kodiyeri, son of former Kerala home minister and CPM secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, in connection with money laundering and benami transactions.

Bineesh Kodiyeri, son of Kerala CPM secretary and former state home minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to appear on Tuesday at its office in Shantinagar, Bengaluru. The deicision comes in the wake of his links to Mohammed Anoop, a drug dealer, arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau here on August 24, 2020 who claimed Bineesh has given him large sums of money for business in Bengaluru.

The raid by enforcement directorate (ED) sleuths at the residence of Bineesh Kodiyeri, arraigned as an accused in a money laundering case in Bengaluru, raises several issues and lapses, on the part of the agency as well as the state government, related to procedure when central law enforcement agencies act in a state.

Sleuths of the Bengaluru zonal unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) have reportedly sought information from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Bineesh Kodiyeri, son of Kerala CPM secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, to ascertain his relationship with one of the three alleged drug traffickers arrested recently.

The Kochi city police on Thursday arrested two members of a group that swindled lakhs from several people in the name of Bineesh Kodiyeri, son of CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrsihnan.
